In Naval Ops: Commander, you are not only in control of your own vessel, you command a battle group consisting of your primary ship, and up to three additional escort ships. Maneuver your escort ships into any formation, have them defend strategic positions, and execute various battle techniques for massive, realistic naval battles!

Choose from 150 different types of escorts, and outfit the vessel with everything needed for the mission. Escort ships can perform anti-aircraft, anti-submarine, and assault functions. Assemble your battle group by purchasing ships, or by wresting control of enemy ships during combat. The types of ships you can collect will be different depending on the circumstances of battle.

From a bird's-eye perspective, you can sweep each sector for surface, air and land-based threats. Watch the enemy's movements, and plan your own attack!

Design and build your own ship and test its mettle in battle! You can choose from over 100 combat-ready vessels based on actual ships from the United States, Japan, Great Britain, and Germany. Equip your vessel with over 1000 different parts. Choose from more than 200 types of weapons, including Rail Guns, supersonic torpedoes, plasma cannons, and other futuristic weapons systems. Or, use historical or modern day weapons.

The Warship Evaluation System will analyze the performance of user-designed ships and identifies the ship's strengths and weaknesses. This is critical to improving ship design.

In both the Strategy and Battle phases, the Tutorial System will help players learn the new combat system and read game screens and displays. The design modes have all ability levels in mind, as well. You can input technical parameters, and the game will construct your ship in Automatic mode. You can choose a hull, propulsion solution, weapons systems and more in Normal mode to build your own ship from the ground up. Or, you can purchase a Pre-Built ship and bypass the design phase altogether.
