Welcome to the KOEI Corporation Discussion Forums. We are glad you have joined our community and we look forward to your involvement in the Forums. Before you use - and contribute to - the content on our site, please review these Terms of Use (Terms). These Terms apply to the use of the KOEI Discussion Forums (Forums) and constitute an agreement between you and KOEI Corporation (KOEI).
Remember: You have a degree of freedom in the Forums. However, the Forums are not public space where you can say whatever you want. The Forums are the property of KOEI Corporation, and you must agree to the rules if you wish to participate.
Conduct in the KOEI Forums
These rules may be altered or supplemented by KOEI Forums administrators at any time.
1. Regarding the Choice of Usernames and Avatars
a. Do not choose a username that contains profanity and/or explicit or implicit references to sexual acts, and alcohol or illicit drugs. Usernames may not contain language which disparages any person or group of persons based on age, income, race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender or sexual orientation.
b. Do not choose a username that may lead others to believe that you are a Forums administrator or moderator. Examples include, but are not limited to: “Mod,” “moderator,” “admin,” “administration,” “webmaster,” or “Koei.”
c. Do not attempt to upload an avatar which depicts nudity, drugs or alcohol, or which may reasonably be deemed offensive. Such avatars will be rejected by KOEI Forums administrators.
d. KOEI Forums administrators may exercise judgment as to what constitutes offensive content.
2. Regarding Offensive Posts on the Forums
a. Do not post profanity, obscenities, or sexually explicit language.
b. Do not post references to alcohol or illicit drugs.
c. Do not post explicit or implicit disparaging references to persons of a particular race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender or sexual orientation, whether or not such persons are known to frequent the Forums.
d. Do not post words, text, or characters that are intended to represent any of the following: profanity, obscenities, and sexually explicit language; references to illicit drugs; references that disparage any racial, ethnic, religious, or national background; references that disparage a particular gender or sexual orientation. EXAMPLE: if “FORUMS” were an offensive word, any of the following representations would constitute violation of the Terms (this is not an exhaustive list): “F*****”, “F O R U M S”, “|=0RUM5”.
e. Posts containing any term not listed above, but which may reasonably be deemed offensive, are prohibited. KOEI Forums administrators may exercise judgment as to what constitutes offensive content.
3. Regarding Spam
a. Please refrain from posting meaningless threads, one word (or short) non-sense posts.
b. Defeating spam needs the participation of all forum members. The first thing you as members of this community can do is review the Terms of Service and don't spam. The next thing you can do is that if you see spam on the boards, report the post to the moderators.
c. To report posts you can use the "Report to Moderator" function which brings the post in question to our attention. We would then investigate the member in question and evaluate their posting history.
4. Regarding Links to Third-party Websites within Posts or Private Messages
a. Do not post hyperlinks to or URLs of third party websites that are offensive and/or are deemed inappropriate by KOEI employees. Posting of hyperlinks or URLs for adult content websites is cause for immediate termination of Forums privileges.
b. Do not post hyperlinks to or URLs of third party websites which offer ANY goods or services. Advertising on the Forums is in violation of the Terms.
5. Regarding Links to Copyright Infringement
a. Sites that allow downloads of unlawful copies of authentic software without consent of the publisher may not be posted on these forums. U.S. copyright laws state that copyrights owned by corporations are valid for 75 years from the date of first publication. Current availability of a game in stores is irrelevant as to its copyright status. Copyrights do not enter the public domain just because they are no longer commercially exploited or widely available. Therefore, the copyrights of games are valid even if the games are not found on store shelves, and using, copying and/or distributing those games is a copyright infringement.
6. Where to Post
a. The KOEI Forums feature categories to post about KOEI Corporation in general, and about specific KOEI titles. Please post your comment in the right place. If for example you have a comment about the soundtrack of Dynasty Warriors 4, post it in the category “Dynasty Warriors 4.” We will add categories as necessary. If you’d like to see a category added, please make a formal request in the Council Chamber.
7. Thread Titles
a. Threads with unclear titles will be deleted.
b. Do not start a thread with an ambiguous or unintelligible title. Do use short, concise thread titles so that other users will know exactly what the thread is about. Examples follow:
i. OK: “Dynasty Warriors 4 music,” or “Camera movement in Crimson Sea.”
ii. NOT OK: “Why can’t you guys get it right”, “This sucks” or “That’s great!”
8. Staying on Topic
a. Stay on topic. If what you wish to say is different from the thread topic, either find an appropriate thread or start a new one. (Use the ‘Search’ function to find an appropriate topic.) Off topic posts will be deleted, and threads that have no focus will be closed without warning.
9. Frivolous Space Within Posts
a. Don’t take up too much room by including large amounts of white space within your post, or by using a huge font for your quote/signature.
10. Duplicate Threads
a. Before you start a new thread, check to see if others have started threads on the same topic. If they have, post in the existing threads. Great minds think alike, so chances are good that someone has beaten you to the post. (Hint: Use the ‘Search’ function.)
b. Similar questions / Adding to your original post
c. If you have a comments about something, and then wish to add to those comments later, use the ‘Edit’ function to add to your original post. Avoid contributing multiple posts about the same thing whenever you can.
11. Etiquette
a. Do not pose as another User or administrator. Violators will be immediately banned from the site.
b. Do not engage in direct attacks on other users or administrators. Use of abusive language is grounds for disciplinary action.
c. While educated and civil debating and discussion is encouraged, we will not tolerate rudeness, insulting posts, personal attacks or purposeless inflammatory posts. Our decision is final in these matters.
12. Disputes
a. The Council Chamber is reserved for issues, queries, and concerns relating to the forum itself. Please use the chambers to communicate your concerns with the forum moderators.
b. Multiple or repeated posting in order to increase your post count is not allowed.
13. Violation of the Terms
a. If you have been warned or banned for violation of the Terms, you may not create additional accounts to bypass the disciplinary action. It is easy for us to find users who do this. Repeat violators will be reported to their ISPs which may elect to suspend your ability to access the internet.
Disciplinary Action
Depending on the severity of the violation, users who violate the Terms are subject to a “strike-out” system. In the majority of cases, users who violate any of the above terms will be given a warning via email of the violation. Users who have been warned and continue to violate the Terms will be banned permanently.
Violation of the Terms shall be considered grounds for discipline by the “strike-out” system. Serious offenders may be banned permanently without warning. One example of a serious offense would be the inclusion of a link to a third party website depicting material inappropriate to minors. It is up to KOEI’s discretion to define what constitutes a serious offense. KOEI may, at its sole discretion, contact the Internet Service Providers of users who repeatedly violate the terms or who commit serious violations.
These Terms are strong requests designed to improve the Forums experience for all users, and as such are not grounds for discipline except in extreme circumstances.
By using this site, you signify your assent to the KOEI Forums Terms of Use. If you do not agree to the Terms, please exit the Forums now. We reserve the right to make changes in this policy and the Forum features at any time without warning. Please check the Terms each time you use our Forums to ensure you are aware of any changes in our Terms of Use. Our Terms of Use will indicate the date of the most recent update.
