Jedi I have the exact same problem as you.

The frustrating thing is I can play ALL my other games with anyone I like no problem.  At the same time my friends who have this can play anyone in the world on LIVE, except me.

What do you ythink the reason is?

I am considering checking the router/port settings again but really that shouldn't be it since like I say all other LIVE games are fine.  It's just THIS game. 

I have the Pal version and playing it on a US console.  The PAL version is region free.  I have no idea if this is a possible cause but I know it shouldn't be.

Jedi I downloaded the command and support lists from marketplace and wonder if that had an effect.  I deleted and redownloaded them and still can't play anyone without that message stopping the game.  The reason I am sus of that download is because a friend of mine didn't do it and he can play fine.  His command and support lists were there automatically from the original update we presume.  I still DL them on from mktplc and didn't realise they were already there. 

The router is fine, incl settings.

I see your version is probably NTSC.  Mine is PAL so that doesn't seem to be an issue. 

As I say all other games fine and no probs.

I have tried it by my house the people online are easy they dont know anything..

I had a problem at first with beating a level in the game, and suprisingly not being able to leave. I had killed the last guy and suddenly, I'm the only one on the entire level. The first time it happened, I just dismissed it as a game glitch. The second time it happened, I went to check the disk itself, and that was when I saw it. The 360 had "burned" over 200 perfect circles into my game. To make a long story short, I'll be hooking up the new one up tomorrow and starting over.

Stressing to play the game makes the world go round...gaaaah~~~!

I took a smooth hand towel and rather than being like Azai towards Oichi, I was more Noh towards Oda.  I tried to rub and peel off the 'burns' on the CD until the burns pulled a Hanzo.  Popped in the disk, started up Honda's stage and finally beat his first level.

I was so paranoid that I made interim saves before beating a stage's boss, just in case every enemy / ally disappeared and the menu buttons disabled.  The game 'is' working, but single-player mostly.  There are times where I hear the console choke on the CD, increasing the damage it receives, but I'm determined to at least beat everyone's story modes and dreams before the xbox360 defeats the Samurai Warriors.

When the disc gets burned again, I wipe it away as much as I can.  But multiplayer seems like it's still glitchy which is unfortunate.

My game of sw2 has a habit of sometimes freezing wheb you select the equipment option just before you start the level, its really annoying and has happened about 7 times as that same spot

i guess that would be a negative to xbox, yet i remember ps2 having major fault a year within its release, compared to that xbox is better (and no i'm no xbox fan boy as i prefer ps2 to xbox)
