The younger sister of Nobunaga Oda. Well-known for her beauty while still a young woman in Owari (near present day Nagoya). She married the 20 year old Nagamasa Azai, who was known as the Eagle of Kouhoku. Thus began an alliance between Nobunaga and Azai. Later, Oichi informed her father when Azai showed signs of rebelling against him. In doing so, she saved her father from crisis. Angered by Azai's betrayal, Nobunaga attacked the Azai family stronghold at Odani Castle. In the end, Oichi refused to leave her husband's side until the castle fell.
